Phaedra Parks Keeps It Real About Intimacy Issues with Boyfriend Medina Islam

*Former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Phaedra Parks is spilling the tea about the intimacy issues she’s having with boyfriend Medina Islam.

In the newest season of “Marriage Bootcamp: Hip Hop Edition,” Phaedra makes clear that she is “definitely an overachiever because I’m a perfectionist. I need him to, umm, man up.”

The couple, who have been together for nearly a year, have never had sex, according to Phaedra.

Islam claims that their biggest issue is lack of affection from his woman. There’s also the challenge of dating long distance, thejasminebrand.com reports. 

Phaedra lives in Atlanta while her man is based in Los Angeles.   

“It’s hard doing the long distance, especially bi-costal because L.A. is a super long flight, outside of just the time difference. But we’ve been making it work,” she says. “He’s an actor so he’s [in] New York quite a bit, and then he comes to Atlanta, and I get to L.A. to see him as well.”

Back in September, Parks gushed to PEOPLE about their relationship.

“He’s very calming and soothing and mild-mannered,” she said. “I always dealt with the bad boys, and he’s very opposite from any guy I’ve ever dated. So that’s refreshing.”

Parks and Islam have been getting cozy since March 2019, and while they met on a dating app, Phaedra explained that she “knew him from around town in Atlanta.”

“You know, he used to be on a show here so we have a lot of mutual friends,” she explained. “One of my best friends is one of his best friends as well,” she shared with PEOPLE.

According to the official press release, the couple appear on “Marriage Bootcamp” along with Willie Taylor and Shanda Denyce (“Love and Hip Hop Hollywood”); “Love and Hip Hop New York” star Tahiry Jose and rapper Vado; model Toni Calvert and hip-hop icon Kurupt; as well as “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” star Hazel E. and model De’Von Waller.

Dr. Ish’s unique sensibilities will be doled in a no B.S. tough love fashion in order to pull these celebrities out of the clouds and put them back into reality, along with Judge Lynn Toler who brings her own style to the drills, which aim to test the boot campers and answer: which couple makes beautiful music together, and who should go solo?
