Bonnie Pointer: Cardiac Arrest is Cause of Death of Pointer Sister

*We finally have the cause of death of Bonnie Ponter of the Pointer Sisters. She died of cardiac arrest.

Bonnie, whose real name was Patricia Eva Pointer — died on June 8 at 3:37 AM. The late singer’s death certificate lists her as divorced, and an entertainer in the music industry for 50 years. The document officially states her cause of death as cardiopulmonary arrest. She also had been dealing with liver disease as well as other underlying health issues, according to the coroner’s report.

Her sister Anita originally confirmed the news of her death to TMZ:

“It is with great sadness that I have to announce to the fans of The Pointer Sisters that my sister, Bonnie died this morning,” Anita told the outlet. “Our family is devastated, on behalf of my siblings and I and the entire Pointer family, we ask for your prayers at this time.”

Bonnie Pointer is best known for her cover of “Heaven Must Have Sent You,” which peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. She earned a Grammy for Best Vocal by a Duo or Group in the country category for their hit, “Fairytale.”

The statement continued: ‘Bonnie was my best friend and we talked every day, we never had a fight in our life, I already miss her and I will see her again one day.’

The Grammy-winning singer’s career began in 1969 when she and her sister June began their band as a duo. Later came their sisters Anita then Ruth.

Bonnie Pointer was 69.
