White woman blocks car of a black family from leaving a Kroger’s parking lot in Detroit

*A white woman at a Kroger grocery store in the Detroit suburb of Livonia blocked a black family from leaving the parking lot and called the police following a dispute inside the store over a bottle of Gatorade.

As reported by Fox2, Shaneeka Montgomery-Strickland said the drama started when her young son tried to reach for a bottle of Gatorade off the store shelf by stepping on the bottom shelf. She said “Karen” spotted her in the parking lot. “She went to her car, came back with the baby in the cart, called me the b word, then she stood behind my car because I started videotaping after that,” she said.

The woman ultimately called the police on Montgomery-Strickland.

Megan Thee Stallion in the music video for WAP

*On Monday (Aug. 10), PETA jumped into the national discourse on Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B’s provocative video for “WAP.”

“If “Tiger King” taught us anything, it’s that tigers and other wild animals are abused for music videos, selfies, and gawking roadside zoo visitors. So if real animals were used instead of computer-generated imagery, the message sent is that animal exploitation is Okurrr—and it isn’t. If Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion really care about pussy liberation, they wouldn’t use suffering big cats as props.”

Billboard contacted the Cardi B camp to find out if real tigers were used in he video or if they were placed in the mix via special effects and CGI. According to the outlet, “it doesn’t appear that live animals were ever on set with either performer.”

Bill Maher delivers a mock eulogy for President Donald Trump on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher”

*Somebody must’ve gotten his feelings hurt last Friday.

Right after Donald Trump patronized women and pushed housing discrimination in his “suburban housewives” tweet Wednesday morning (we’ll get to that in a sec), he randomly railed against HBO’s Bill Maher, tweeting, “Watched @billmaher last week for the first time in a long time. He’s totally SHOT, looks terrible, exhausted, gaunt, and weak. If there was ever a good reason for no shutdown, check out this jerk. He never had much going for him, but whatever he did have is missing in action!”

The “Real Time with Bill Maher” episode that Trump happened to catch after not watching “in a long time” (insert eyeroll) ended with Maher delivering a mock eulogy for #45 that laid out how he might be remembered. Maher set up the bit by pointing out how recent funerals for Congressmen John Lewis and Elijah Cummings, Sen. John McCain and others had such beautiful eulogies, and how he couldn’t imagine the same for Trump.

Maher said in the fake eulogy, “So many wanted to speak here today, but couldn’t break their non-disclosure agreements. And our hearts go out to Melania who RSVP’d ‘maybe.’ Donald always said he knew she was the one the moment he saw her and said those three little words: ‘add to cart.’”

He continued, “Donald Trump never met a man he liked. And yet he always suffered fools. You could tell him anything and he’d believed it. It’s painful to think he could still be with us if only his personal physician wasn’t that lady who believed medicine came from outer space.”

Apparently, the bit got under the president’s skin, because it’s been five days since it aired. Watch below:

Trump’s tweet storm this morning included a revisit to his so-called “suburban housewives,” this time pulling Sen. Cory Booker into the tweet’s blatant racism and sexism, and spelling the senator’s name wrong in the process. Trump tweeted, “The ‘suburban housewife’ will be voting for me. They want safety & are thrilled that I ended the long running program where low income housing would invade their neighborhood. Biden would reinstall it, in a bigger form, with Corey Booker in charge!”

In one tweet, the President of the United States managed to disparage and belittle women by declaring who they’ll vote for, and blow a dog-whistle to “suburban housewives” (the dwindling white female voting block that he needs for any chance of winning reelection). The coded message is that he has saved them from “low income housing” (black people moving into their neighborhoods) and “Corey Booker” (a Black U.S. legislator who is not Tim Scott) will be in charge of their return should former Vice President Joe Biden win the presidency.

Sad.

Wayne County, MI Judge Qiana Lillard

*The Honorable Qiana Denise Lillard is not playing. The Wayne County, Michigan Circuit Court judge has gone viral for the way she tossed two people out of her court room and into jail for laughing during a DUI sentencing on Friday.

According to NBC’s Michigan affiliate WDIV, Lillard heard giggles from the family of 25-year-old Amanda Kosal, who admitted she was drunk when she struck an SUV head-on, killing 31-year-old Jerome Zirker and severely injuring his fiancée, 31-year-old Brittany Johnson.

“Whoever can sit here at a tragic moment like this and laugh and smile when somebody has lost a family member … in the entire time that Mr. Zirker’s sister was speaking, that clown — and that’s what I am going to call him, a clown — was sitting there smiling and laughing,” said Lillard.

“And you can go, too,” the judge added, pointing to Kosal’s mother, Donna. “Because if you don’t know how to act, you can go to jail. So leave.”

Lillard told others who dared to “laugh and smirk” to try her, or they could join the woman in jail.

“This is a court of law, and these are very serious matters,” she explained to Kosal’s family. “I understand you all are very upset because your loved one is going to prison — but guess what? She’s going to prison for the choices that she made. These people are here grieving, saddened because a senseless act took away their loved one, and you’re sitting here acting like it’s a joke? …Not in Courtroom 502. Not today and not any other day.”

Watch below:

Amanda Kosal was sentenced to 3 to 15 years in prison for the deadly drunk driving crash that killed Zirker, a father of five, reports WDIV. Her mother, Donna, appeared back in court Friday in front of Lillard. She apologized and her sentence was reportedly reduced from 93 days to one day in jail, time served.

On Saturday, Lillard took to Facebook to thank the millions of people who watched the viral video of her reaction, and those who reached out to her personally.

“Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to visit this page to express your feelings,” she wrote. “I am honored to have the privilege of serving the citizens of Wayne County.”
