Victory In The Midst Of a Storm Requires Words of Encouragement

*Blessed-Ones, today’s topic is Love. I always like to first look-up the online definition of a word and this is what I found.

LOVE: 1 – An intense feeling of deep affection. 2 – A great interest and pleasure in something. 3 – To feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone. 4 – A profoundly tender affection for another person.

In looking at these four definitions, no wonder there are so many divorces , so many who have chosen to not get married at all, but rather live together and so many who run from one mate to another over and over, and over again.

Everyone wants to be loved; even those that say they don’t. It’s a natural part of being human. Love is NOT just a feeling, though I understand why many people think it is. Who hasn’t had an increased heart-rate or fluttering feeling in the stomach, better known as, “butterflies” when there’s attraction? This attraction is more physical (lust) lots of times than anything else.

Yes, having affection and deep feelings for another goes along with love, but it is only a by-product of the real thing.  In 1 John 4:7 the writer says, “Let us love one another, for love comes from God.” And in verse 17 it says, “God is Love.” If Love comes from God and if God Himself, is love, then only He, as The Author, can describe and define love. Therefore, we should desire to understand fully what it means to love.  Love is not how we feel about a, person. Our feelings are like the weather – it changes, from day to day. Love is an action word and it requires Action.

This year, during my study of scripture and in my alone time talking to God He revealed some things to me. 1 Corinthians chapter 13, stuck with me, so much so that I memorized it. Take the time to read and really understand this chapter. It is referred to as the Love chapter. Many have heard verses from this chapter read aloud at weddings; only to see the couple divorced a few years later. What happened? Did they not do everything humanly possible to make their marriage work? On a human level, the answer might be no, they didn’t, but God revealed to me that love, on the spiritual level, takes a lot more than what man, you and I, can ever physically do on our own.  No one has the, ability to love without God.

The remaining verses of 1 John 4: 7-21 we learn “All who love are born of God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us. He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us.”

Blessed-Ones, it isn’t our ability to love but Gods indwelling Spirit through His Son living in us that enables His amazing love to shine through us.

You may not feel very loved right now. You might be dealing with the weight of someone else’s conditions of love. Real love is not conditional, for conditional love is always uncertain and can change as often as the wind blows.  God’s love is unconditional. It is absolute, whole and complete. His love is the Most Excellent Way: Gods Love is patient, kind, doesn’t envy, doesn’t boast , is not proud. It does not dishonor others and is not self-seeking. It isn’t easily-angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. It does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres.  Love never fails.

Accept Gods love Today!  John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus died for you, me and the whole world. THAT IS LOVE.

In knowing what God has done for you, I urge you to Take, Action!  Confess and Accept Jesus Christ, who is the epitome of love, as LORD and Savior of your life. There is no better time than now; no better day than today. Believe, for everyone who believes in Jesus, will have eternal life.

To God be the glory!

Be blessed, be a blessing,

Bride of Christ
