*George Floyd’s family has slammed the Hennepin County medical examiner’s finding that he was on fentanyl at the time of his death and had recently used methamphetamine.

In a one-page summary, the ME noted that the 46-year-old ’s cause of death was “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression,” adding that there are “no physical findings” to “support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation,” and that Floyd was high on fentanyl when a former officer with the Minneapolis police department killed him during an arrest.

The report comes after private autopsy by doctors hired by George Floyd’s family determined he died from “mechanical asphyxia” caused by “severe pressure” on his neck and back from officers pinning him to the ground.

As noted by Inside Edition, on Twitter, people slammed Minneapolis police for blaming the victim for his own death.

“An autopsy showed that George Floyd had drugs in his system…that doesn’t matter it is still a murder. All 4 should go to JAIL. Sounds like they are setting up a ‘blame the victim defense,” one user wrote.

Another added, “‘Potential intoxicants’ is a bullshit attempt to use the stigma created by the white supremacy-based war on drugs, to victim shame, to throw the blame & cover up the fact that a racist white cop murdered George Floyd.”

“The cause of death was that he was starving for air. It was lack of oxygen. And so everything else is a red herring to try to throw us off,” said the family’s attorney Benjamin Crump.

“It is an attempt to assassinate his character, after they assassinated him right then on the video,” he added.

Of the four Minneapolis police officers present during Floyd’s arrest and murder, only former cop Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

“We heard that they expect to charge those officers…We understand they will be charged,” Crump said Tuesday.
