*A solemn Jimmy Fallon started Monday’s “Tonight Show” by addressing his past moment of blackface.
“I’m horrified and I’m sorry and I’m embarrassed,” he said of donning blackface to portray Chris Rock in a past “Saturday Night Live” skit. Fallon spoke about going against professionals who advised him to stay quiet until the hubbub blows over. “I realized I needed to get educated about how to stop the silence and the fear of saying the wrong thing by not being silent.”
That’s when Fallon brought in NAACP president/CEO Derrick Johnson and opened the conversation to include the nationwide protests against racial police violence, how white people can become activists in the movement and more.
