*The charges of attempted murder and assault have been dropped against Kenneth Walker, the boyfriend of 26-year-old Kentucky woman, Breonna Taylor.

We previously reported… Taylor was gunned down by Louisville police after they stormed her home on March 13 during a botched raid– firing more than 20 rounds into her apartment.

Police were looking for a suspect already in custody who did not live at the victim’s apartment, according to a lawsuit filed by Taylor’s family, MSN reports.

Taylor was a certified EMT and aspiring nurse working at two local hospitals and on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic. The LMPD (Louisville Metro Police officers) conducted an improper raid when they burst in her home and fired at least 22 times, with bullets going into neighboring apartments, and “it was incredible that Mrs. Taylor was the only one killed,” said Rob Eggert, defense attorney for Talyor’s boyfriend.

Walker, a licensed gun owner, was inside the apartment at the time and shot at officers when they attempted to enter without announcing themselves, according to the lawsuit. He was not injured in the incident, but was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and attempted murder for striking a police officer when he fired one shot out of Taylor’s apartment.

Walker’s attorney has stated that his client thought they were being robbed and he did not know the intruders were police officers.

On Friday (May 22), Commonwealth’s Attorney Tom Wine announced that his office will move to dismiss the case against Walker, after the police “woefully misled” the grand jury in the case.

“The picture presented to the grand jury completely mischaracterizes the events that took place at Ms. Taylor’s apartment and result in Ms. Taylor’s death,” Eggert said in the motion he filed asking for the charges to be dismissed.

“I believe that additional investigation is necessary,” Wine said, noting that the grand jury should have seen more information before deciding to indict Walker.

Meanwhile, the FBI in Louisville, Kentucky, has launched an investigation into the police-involved shooting death Breonna Taylor.
