*One of the officers involved in the shooting death of 26-year-old EMT Breonna Taylor was accused of being a “dirty cop” in a lawsuit filed last year over an unrelated incident.

In the lawsuit filed by Kendrick Wilson in October 2019, Officer Brett Hankison is accused of harassing suspects and planting drugs on them, per Inside Edition

Wilson says in this lawsuit his “fatal misdeed was attracting the unwanted and undeserved attention,” saying the cop “for one reason or another, had to be engaging in illegal activity, and that he had to ensure his conviction.”

He also alleges that Hankison arrested him three times between 2016 and 2018 at bars in the city and they even had interactions “over a relationship with the same woman.”

During one particular arrest in June 2018, the officer’s body camera located narcotics “on the sidewalk several feet away from where the altercation took place.”

According to the lawsuit, Hankison “then jokes with other LMPD officers about ‘planting dope’ when Mr. Wilson expressed shock over the locating of these drugs,” the suit says.“Also visible on the body camera is an unnamed civilian, who can be heard communicating with Mr. Wilson that he saw an officer drop the drugs on the sidewalk before he retrieved them.”

Wilson alleges in his lawsuit that Hankison has a “vendetta” against him and describes him a “dirty cop.”

The lawsuit also “incurred the cost of drug tests, which all yielded negative results, in attempts to support his claim that he is not involved with narcotics.” The criminal case against Wilson remains pending in circuit court.

Meanwhile, Hankison, along with colleagues Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Officer Myles Cosgrove, have been placed on administrative reassignment pending an investigation into the shooting of Breonna Taylor.

Breonna Taylor

Taylor was killed March 13 by officers after they stormed her home during a botched drug raid– firing more than 20 rounds into her apartment.

The LMPD (Louisville Metro Police officers) were looking for a suspect already in custody who did not live at the victim’s apartment, according to a lawsuit filed by Taylor’s family. Officers went to the wrong complex, wrong unit and shot Breonna 8 times.

Criticism of Louisville police continues to mount as the disturbing case gains national attention. As we previouly reported, the department is “desperate” to cover up the execution of Taylor.
