On ‘Keep it Social’: Ahmaud Arbery, Should NCAA Athletes Be Paid? & HealthCare Workers Go Viral / WATCH

*Is social media a platform for social change?

The latest episode of WGBH’s newly launched show Keep it Social explores how the viral video of Ahmaud Arbery’s killing demonstrates social media’s power as a tool for social change and collective mourning.

Hosts Paris Alston and Terrence Johnson team up with Zinhle Essamuah from Now This News, Jeneé Osterheldt from The Boston Globe to unpack the issue.

In the conversation, Osterheldt says, “Millennials and Generation Z after them have not had a seat at the table…social media gave us a platform to reach each other in the farthest corners of the world.” She says that social media has become “a tool of activism, and a tool of solidarity and a tool of protest.”

Keep it Social is a new program covering how social media trends are driving cultural changes. The show is produced by and for Gen-Zs and Millennials and new episodes drop on YouTube every Friday at 7 pm.

By the way, Paris and Terrence thank the frontline healthcare workers who are fighting COVID-19 and also making videos, pictures, and other content to brighten everyone’s days while #StayingHomeTogether.
