L.A. DA Under Fire to File Felony Assault Charges Against LAPD Cop for Unprovoked Beating / WATCH

*In essence, here’s what’s happening. Civil rights leaders are demanding that Los Angeles County DA Jackie Lacey file felony assault charges against LAPD Officer Frank Hernandez.

The Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Najee Ali,  President of Project Islamic Hope are calling for a fast track investigation and are demanding that L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey file assault charges against Hernandez who was caught on video brutally beating an unarmed non-resistant suspect in Boyle Heights. You can see the video above.

Hernandez has a violent history on the LAPD and has been involved in three prior officer-involved shootings, according to a press release from the LAUPR and Project Islamic Hope.

“Hernandez was not a trained, professional officer, but a violent thug when he beat the defenseless suspect in Boyle Heights He has absolutely no place wearing a badge, gun and a uniform, but should be facing charges as any other citizen would who violently beat anyone. Prosecuting Hernandez sends the strong message that officers are not above the law and will be held accountable for violent acts as any other citizen. Lacey can and must send the message with a prosecution,” stated Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Najee Ali.
