John Legend Slams President Trump Over His Handling Over Coronavirus Crisis: ‘He Thinks He’s Brilliant’

*John Legend says Donald Trump is the opposite of what the nation needs right now amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The singer has slammed the president’s handling of the pandemic, noting that Trump “says a bunch of ridiculous happy-talk home remedies that people should not be doing and he thinks he’s brilliant because he has a relative who is a doctor,” Legend explained in the latest edition of GQ Hype (via PEOPLE).

“Then you combine that with the fact that he doesn’t listen to scientists and makes every decision on how it will benefit him personally. He’s also a very short-term thinker, so he doesn’t think much about how to handle big, complex problems that require planning and long-term vision.”

In related news, Trump on Tuesday laid out what he wants “on the table” for the next round of economic stimulus — calling for the elimination of “sanctuary” city policies, and arguing that the coronavirus must not be used to bail out “poorly run” states, per Fox News.

“Well run States should not be bailing out poorly run States, using CoronaVirus as the excuse!” Trump tweeted. “The elimination of Sanctuary Cities, Payroll Taxes, and perhaps Capital Gains Taxes, must be put on the table. Also lawsuit indemnification & business deductions for restaurants & ent [sic].”

Meanwhile, speaking to GQ Hype, Legend says he and his wife Chrissy Teigen have been adjusting pretty well while quarantining with their two children

“I feel like we’ve adjusted pretty well,” says Legend. “We’re fortunate, of course. We have the resources to deal with everything we need to deal with in a pretty painless way. We have our family unit and we love our kids and love hanging out with them. And they especially love being home with us 24/7. We’re making the best of a wild situation.”
