*If you haven’t watched “American Idol” since the first Obama administration, a contestant who goes by the name Just Sam just might be the emotional pull back in.
While all of the other contestants have travelled to their respective homes around the country to quarantine with their families, this MYC subway singer from the Brooklyn projects didn’t want to fly back to the Harlem apartment she shares with her grandmother, in case she was asymptomatically carrying the coronavirus. Sam didn’t want to risk unknowingly getting her grandma sick.
So she is performing from her hotel room in Los Angeles, where she is in quarantine by herself. The isolation got to her on Sunday during her interview before singing an emotional rendition of Bill Withers’ “Grandma’s Hands” in honor of her grandmother.
Just before this YouTuber began recording her segment, Sam had broken dow in tears saying, “I just wish that I had one person here.”
