Q: Ryan Murphy said you guys had dinner parties…

Dylan McDermott: The most important [dinner] was Patti (LuPone) cooked us all Thanksgiving. Not only did she cook us Thanksgiving she lit the turkey on fire!

McDermott portrays Ernie the owner of Golden Tip Gas, which doubles as both a service station and high-end brothel.

David Corenswet: … On purpose!

Corenswet portrays Jack Castello a newly married, 23-year-old World War II serviceman and farm boy from Missouri who dreams of being a Hollywood star. Relying on his good looks and blind ambition, he’ll do just about anything to make it in Tinseltown.

Patti LuPone: It was flambéed.

LuPone portrays Avis Amberg a former actress and now the lonely, no-nonsense wife of the head of Ace Studios. Avis has taken a particular shine to Jack.

Jim Parsons: [Humorously] I never dine with Jeremy or Jake (Picking). They never invited me to go eat anywhere. Which is fine.

Jeremy Pope: Subconsciously or unconsciously we separated – sorry Jim! The younger people and the older people. The older people were the ones after set would go home. I was never invited to Jim’s…they would drink bourbon and whiskey. The young cats we’re at Darren’s (Criss) bar doing karaoke.

Q: What was your worst survival job?

Patti LuPone: I was a waitress at a discotheque dinner club where we had to wear see-through dresses you could see right through! It was a wannabe Mafia joint. There were girls in cages…

Jim Parsons: I was a bank teller and most days I didn’t balance my till. I never stole money! But something was always off with my digits.

Jeremy Pope: I worked at the big Hollister in New York City. I was on the bottom floor and just welcomed tourists for many hours…
