*Wale puts a “Freaky Friday” twist on racism in the brilliant short film for his latest single “Sue Me,” featuring Kelly Price.

Directed by Kerby Jean Raymond, the 8 minute, 15 second visual stars actor Lucas Hedges as the protagonist going about his day as a white male. In this world, that includes seeing images of African Americans on their everyday products like toothpaste and oatmeal, a black Jesus painting in their living room, billboards advertising the dating site “White People Meet” and a black barista calling the police (who are also black) on a group of young white male customers for seemingly no reason.

The video ends with Hedges visiting his father in prison, and getting a harsh life lesson from his old man that new jail reform laws don’t apply to people who look like them.

The chorus of “Sue Me” includes the line “I’m rooting for everybody that’s black,” said famously by “Insecure” creator and star Issa Rae on the red carpet of the 2017 Emmys, when asked who she was rooting for that night.
