In The Midst Of a Storm: There is still Good News!

Quarantinehas some good points (google free to share and use)

In uncertain times there is a certain God who understands that we feel troubled, anxious, scared — even bored. We don’t like being stuck in the house. We certainly don’t like being told what to do.  God often  referred to His people as a stiff neck people. To be stiff-necked is to be obstinate and difficult to lead.  (Exodus 333, Deut. 9:13, Nehemiah 9:16 and Acts 7:51).  God loves us anyway.   During the Pandemic God is producing miracles and opportunities. Could I be bored because of my focus?   Severe boredom made me realize that quarantine has some good points!  I was bored out of my mind.  I took up a silly challenge. I made it a mission to seek out what could possibly be good  about quarantine. This is what I found:

I’m bored because I miss not seeing friends, family, co-workers and church members in person, or feeling the closeness of physical affection.  I’m being obedient to the laws of the land. I practice social distancing and washing my hands. Am I obedient to God’s word?  Answers like that only come during quiet times with the LORD. When I’m not with my friends, family, co-workers and church members. I was bored but not blind to the fact  that I have social media, internet, phones, a roof over my head and food to eat.  I became bored with the unrelenting negative news stories.  I sought positive news. I witnessed strangers and organizations  becoming creative  in helping people. Furniture companies stepped up to make free masks. Alcohol companies stepped up to make free hand sanitizer.  Strangers knocked on the doors of neighbors who they never spoke to before the Pandemic.  20,000 FaceBook people formed a group that donated RVs to medical health workers. The organization is RVs 4 Mds.  RVs4MDs allows health care workers to see their loved ones from the drive-way or backyard and not infect their family with the Covid-19 virus. The health care worker lives in the RVs indefinitely. Churches and the Taste Project  fed thousands of people! The Salvation Army gave educational resources to parents so kids would not suffer academically. Thank God for the stimulus check!

I am saddened every time I hear that a loved one passed away with the Coronavirus. Yet,  I know that they are free from the troubles of this world.  1 Thessalonians 4:13 says, Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. According to Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His faithful servants. 1 Corinthians 15:55 puts it this way, Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting? Death lost its victory during the Coronavirus because of what Jesus did at the cross!

 Hallelujah!

Boredom cannot overshadow the fact that there is a name bigger than the name Coronavirus and a God who heals.

My only source of human contact is with  essential workers.  I replaced boredom with a mission. My mission is to share Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go?  I make it a point to share the mission with people in the store and those delivering packages. History proves people are ready to hear good news and accept Jesus as their savior during hard times.  Luke 10:2 says, The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few”. Share your faith.  Do your part of 1 Corinthians 3:8. The one who plans and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.  For we are co-workers in God’s service, you are God’s fields, God’s building!

I used to get bored when I wasn’t on the move.  I thrived on ritual, planning and control.  The fact is we have a new norm. I don’t control anything. Life will never be as it once was. Life will be whatever you make it. Whatever you focus on is what will grow! Embrace Philippians 3:13.  Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Read the back of the Bible.  You win! I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! At the end of my search and at the conclusion of my mission….I found God!

 Hallelujah!
