*Because some folks are more than willing to put their lives in jeopardy by ignoring shelter in place order, it looks like beaches and parks in Jacksonville, Florida are set to reopen at 5pm on Friday evening to accommodate them. However, it will come “with restrictions for essential activities only.”

The move by authorities in Jacksonville comes as the president declared the nation is in the “process” of winning the war against the coronavirus, and announced the new phased return toward normalcy last night, even as deaths and infections in the nation continued to rise.

Activities that will be permitted on the beaches include recreational activities consistent with social distancing guidelines such as walking, biking, hiking, fishing, running, swimming, taking care of pets and surfing, according to a press release.

Figures released on Thursday afternoon show there are now more than 23,300 cases of coronavirus in Florida, with 668 deaths.
