*Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic has most of us in the country mandated to stay home as much as possible to avoid either catching or unknowingly spreading the virus. But not everyone is “safer at home.”
Domestic violence victims that once had a break when their abusers went to work are now around them all day, which has caused incidents around the country to rise. According to a New York Times report, movement restrictions may make violence in homes more frequent, more severe and more dangerous.
Below, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot appeared on “The Daily Show” Wednesday to talk about the domestic violence spike in her city, her plan to address COVID-19’s disproportionate impact on African Americans in her city and the deep impact of the virus on Chicagoans overall.
