*Body cam footage released by LAPD shows a female officer shooting a despondent woman who was in desperate need of aid.
The graphic video was unveiled on Monday night, and shows what went down during the disturbing incident that occurred on February 21 in South LA.

The two female officers were dispatched to 78th and South Hoover Street after a call from a woman asking for an officer to come to an address, without providing any other details.
There they found a woman sitting on a curb, who gave her name and age — 28-year-old Dorothy — but wouldn’t confirm that she was the one who made the call, nor what was wrong.
The scene turns chaotic after the woman pulls an eight inch blade from her waistband and begins advancing towards the officers.

When she refuses their commands to drop the weapon and back off, the woman is shot twice.
The woman reportedly takes a bullet to her stomach and leg; and body cam captures the moment she regains consciousness as she’s being treated by paramedics.
The woman was later identified as Dorothy Kolen, who was transported to a local hospital and survived her injuries. She was later booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a police officer.
