*In a Facebook video announcing her new book club selection, Oprah Winfrey says from coronavirus quarantine, “There’s no better time to read than when you’re safer at home.”
The TV titan has chosen “Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of an American Family” by Robert Kolker. It’s the true story of an American family in which six of the 12 siblings develop schizophrenia.
Oprah writes in the Facebook post that it “reads like a medical detective journey. It reveals the shame, denial, shock, confusion, and misunderstanding of mental illness at a time when no one was really sure what schizophrenia was or how to treat it.”
