*CNN pundit Sophia Nelson is catching heat for calling President Donald Trump a “retard” in a now deleted tweet.
According to The Blaze, Nelson was reacting to a critical tweet about Trump from Republican Rick Wilson, when she replied, “They just always got an excuse to cover for his retarded ass!”
It didn’t take long for the “nasty ass twitter bully mob” to come for her. So the former GOP counsel for the House Oversight Committee deleted her tweet, explaining that she removed her comment after the father of a special needs child called her out “with class and grace” for using the word.

Nelson acknowledged that the term is offensive to many people, yet she continued to defend her use of it.
As a senior adviser to the Lincoln Project, she said its their mission to “defeat President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box.”
When a reporter from the Daily Caller addressed her position, she once again referred to Trump as “retarded”.
“This is a great hit job you guys are attempting because I called Trump a ‘retarded ass.’ He is that,” Nelson wrote. “This has zero reference to disabled or special needs persons.”
Meanwhile, when U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer, a Republican from North Dakota, called Speaker of the U.S. House Nancy Pelosi “retarded” over her economic stimulus bill, he didn’t receive much blowback from conservatives/Trump supporters for using the term. Proving once again that the hypocrisy is real.
