*This morning on The Joe Madison Show from SiriusXM, Dan Rather called into the program to discuss the way President Donald Trump treats the media and the economic stimulus package passed by Congress, and also explained why journalists refused to use the word ‘lie’ when describing the President of the United States.
Dan Rather to Joe Madison: “This is a necessary beginning. Rather than say it’s a band-aid on a gaping wound, I think it’s a fairly substantial bandage on a gaping wound, but the wound keeps growing larger. And this is not likely, in my opinion, to be the last major stimulus that Congress is going to have to pass, and there are other stimulus steps that are going to be taken. This is the beginning. It’s not the end.”
He says, “This reluctance to use the accusation, to call out a lie, for a long time it was, that brings a harshness to politics that we’d like to avoid. But most of that has gone by the boards now. If you listen carefully and read, most journalists will use the word ‘lie.'”
