Harvey Weinstein Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison for Sexual Assault Convictions

*Harvey Weinstein, we can reasonably assume, would rather NOT be Harvey Weinstein today or any day because he just sentenced to 23 years in prison,

The rather steep sentence follows his conviction for first-degree criminal sexual acts and third-degree rape. Judge James Burke issued the sentence after hearing from Weinstein’s victims, according to USA Today.

As we reported, Weinstein was convicted on Feb. 24 of third-degree rape of Jessica Mann in 2013, and of first-degree sexual assault of production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006.

“He violated my trust, my body and my basic right to reject his sexual advances,” Haley said of Weinstein. “When he attacked me that evening, it scarred me emotionally and physically. It diminished my confidence and faith in people, and my confidence and faith in myself. I’m relieved he will now know he’s not above the law.”

“My rape was preventable,” Mann told the judge. “This was a known offender whose previous crimes were covered up in a paper trail. I am forced to carry that experience until I die. It is a recurring nightmare that I feel is just as real as when it happened.”

Weinstein’s attorneys argued in court that a lengthy sentence behind bars would be “a death penalty.”

Yep, that about sums it up.
