*President Trump is said to be “melting down” behind closed doors over the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, while at the same time projecting public optimism that America has the virus under control.

Trump — a self-professed germaphobe according to Vanity Fair, reportedly confided in aides last week that he is concerned journalists will purposefully contract COVID-19 in an attempt to infect him on Air Force One.

Another source shared with the publication that Trump wants the Justice Department to “open an investigation of the media for market manipulation” amid the plummeting stock market.

In the meantime, Trump and his advisers are considering using emergency funds to bolster the economy.

Trump pitched a coronavirus-related economic stimulus package to Capitol Hill on Tuesday, in a meeting with Republicans who support cutting payroll taxes to help certain hard-hit industries, including the airline and cruise ship industries.

“It’s really working out,” the president said.

“A lot of good things are gonna happen,” he explained. “The consumer is so powerful in our country with what we’ve done with tax cuts and regulation cuts and all of those things, the consumer has never been in a better position than they are right now.”

Meanwhile, Trump confirmed Tuesday that he has not been tested for COVID-19 despite interacting in recent days with at least three individuals who have been exposed to an individual with the virus.

“I feel extremely good. I feel very good,” he told reporters.

“I guess it’s not a big deal to get tested and something I would do, but, again, I spoke to the White House doctor, terrific guy, talented guy. He said he sees no reason to do it. There’s no symptoms, no anything,” Trump added.

His comments come after Trump’s press secretary confirmed that the president has not taken a test.

“It hit the world, and we’re prepared and we’re doing a great job with it and it will go away, stay calm, it will go away,” Trump told ABC News when asked about the impact coronavirus has had on the economy.
