*Veteran news anchor Brian Williams, who famously “misremembered” himself away from the plush “NBC Nightly News” gig to the 11 p.m. hour at MSNBC, has now gone viral for unknowingly repeating a miscalculation. On Thursday “The Eleventh Hour,” Williams and the New York Times Editorial Board Member Mara Gay accepted without question the math in a tweet that joked how Michael Bloomberg could have given every American one million dollars with the five hundred million dollars he spent on his short-lived presidential campaign. That tweet came from Washington Post writer Mekita Rivas, who tweeted, “Bloomberg spent $500 million on ads. The US population is 327 million. He could have given each American $1 million and still have money left over. I feel like a $1 million check would be life-changing for most people. Yet he wasted it all on ads and STILL LOST.” In reality, $500 million divided by 327 million Americans is about $1.53 per person. The faux pas prompted her to change her Twitter account to “private” while adding the headline, “I know, I’m bad at math.” The misstep of reporting the wrong math on the show caused Williams to be the butt of jokes, again, on the Interwebs.
