*Gibson Public Relations hosted the 11th Annual Lady In Red Diamond Rose Awards presented by the Multi-Cultural International Motion Picture Association (MIMPA) at a recent event in Beverly Hills hosted by Obba Babatunde and MIMPA President Gail Gibson.
Among the 2020 honorees was EURweb’s LaRita Shelby, who won the Entertainment Journalism Award. Miss Shelby is a noted media professional, actress, singer, writer and former radio personality on Lee Bailey’s Radioscope, the Tom Joyner Morning Show and the Armed Forces Radio & TV Network where she hosted and produced over 1,000 shows.
As a producer, LaRita has been at the helm of the docu-short Home of the Heroes, the entertainment show Your Hollywood Local and most recently DAD Speak, a docu-short that debuted at the S. E. Manly film festival last year. DAD Speak will also appear at this year’s Las Vegas Black Film Festival in April.
The film DAD Speak is a precursor to the feature film “On My Father’s Side,” which was inspired by the book of the same name and a chronicle of Miss Shelby’s 40-year journey to reunite with her dad. See more at www.OnMyFathersSide.com.
In her 25 years as a journalist, LaRita has interviewed a host of celebrities, authors, community leaders and other notables. Currently, LaRita is shopping five original screenplays and vetting more acting roles as she enjoys the next chapters of her career.
Many thanks are extended to MIMPA president Gail Gibson, My Israel’s Miracle Hair products, Kendra Scott Jewelry and OneUnited Bank for being among the sponsors who supported the event. A little known fact is that LaRita is also the voice of One United Bank.
One United has recently launched the Queen Card Visa debit card for info call (877) One-United or (877) 633-8648 or visit OneUnited.com/Queen. Special thanks also to Westbrooks Management, the Miller family & Willie Martin’s All-State Insurance of Memphis, Tennessee.
Official event sponsors for MIMPA are MyLoveableLegs.com, eZwayNetwork.com, GWS Auctions, Fund Duel and L’Oreal Paris. A portion of the proceeds from the evening benefit Areva Martin’s Special Needs Network.
Congratulations are in order for all of the 2020 Lady In Red honorees: Barbara Perkins, Bridgitte Kruse, Lauren “Lo Lo” Spencer, Kate Linder, Areva Martin, Esq., Denise Millett Burkhardt, Raja Marhaba, Shelly Shah and Eunice Duarte- Delfin. Of course, we’re shouting to the moon and back again over our girl LaRita “Jazzy Rita” Shelby as she continues to do meaningful work inside and outside of the entertainment industry.
