There will be a full year of new episodes of “Judge Judy” in 2021 before the 25th season wraps.
“I am looking forward to a banner 25th anniversary season,” Sheindlin said in a statement. “CBS has been a fine partner for 20 plus years. They have decided to monetize their JUDGE JUDY library of reruns. I wish them good luck with their experiment.”
“Judge Judy” premiered in 1996, and after filming over 4300 episodes so far, the 77-year-old said she ain’t ready to slow down yet.
“I’m not tired,” she told DeGeneres, noting that her new show “Judy Justice” will drop a year after “Judge Judy” ends.
“If you’re not tired, you’re not supposed to stop,” Sheindlin told Ellen.
Thanks to her lucrative TV deal Sheindlin topped Forbes’ list of the highest-paid daytime TV hosts for 2018.
via Deadline:
Judge Judy was most recently renewed by CBS TV Distribution in 2018 through 2021. The blockbuster deal reportedly included a $47 million a year salary for Sheindlin and CBS acquiring the Judge Judy library from Sheindlin for $80-$90 million.
It’s not clear exactly when or which network Sheindlin’s latest project will make its debut.
Fans will still be able to watch reruns of “Judge Judy” once the series wraps next year.
“‘Judge Judy,’ you’ll be able to see next year — a full year, all new shows,” she said. “The following couple of years, you should be able to get all the reruns that CBS has sold on the stations currently carrying ‘Judge Judy.’ And ‘Judy Justice’ will be going elsewhere. Isn’t that fun?”
