‘Queen Sono’ Netflix’s’ New African Series (Watch)

“Queen Sono” is the first African script-to-screen series commissioned by Netflix.

The action-packed series follows Queen Sono, the highly trained top spy in a South African agency whose purpose is to better the lives of African citizens. While taking on her most dangerous mission yet, she must also face changing relationships in her personal life.

Pearl Thusi (Queen Sono) a field agent of the Special Operations Group

Kate Liquorish (Ekaterina Gromova) heiress of a Russian oligarch and Queen’s archenemy

Vuyo Dabula (Shandu) an ex-spy and Ekaterina’s second in command

Khathu Ramabulana (William) Queen’s childhood friend and therapist

Enhle Maphumulo (Nova) William’s girlfriend

Sechaba Morojele (Dr. Sid) Chief of the SOG

Chi Mhende (Miri) Director General of the SOG

Abigail Kubeka (Mazet) Queen’s maternal grandmother

Season one was filmed on location in Johannesburg, South Africa, Lagos, Nigeria, Kenya and Zanzibar, and Tanzania.

“Queen Sono” drops on February 28th only on Netflix and is directed by Tebogo Malope and Kagiso Lediga
