*Newly released police body-cam footage shows an Orlando police officer arresting a sobbing 6-year-old girl at school. Video shows officer Dennis Turner placing zip ties around the girl’s wrists as she was walked out to a police car. The footage has resulted in Turner being fired.
The officer claimed that he was called to Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy after several school employees accused the girl, Kaia Rolle, of assault. The officer claimed that one of the staffers wanted to press charges, prompting Rolle to be taken into custody.
However, another staff member denied that they wanted Rolle arrested. Also, a spokesperson for the school said, “We care about the well-being of our students. The officer’s statements are inaccurate. We did not ask for either student to be arrested, neither did we want to pursue criminal charges.”
The footage is heartbreaking. Employees are visibly upset at the sight of Rolle, again, all of 6-years-old, is having her wrists zip-tied behind her back while she asks, “What are those for? Don’t put handcuffs on. Help me, help me, please help me.”
She cries, “I don’t want to go in the police car. PLEASE give me a second chance,” as Turner walks her out and place her in the back seat.
