*Cardi B has defended Dwyane Wade’s transgender son against the transphobic comments both the child and his superstar dad and stepmother, Gabrielle Union, are receiving online.

Wade and Union claim 12-year-old Zion was aware at the age of three that he should have been born a female. He now identifies as trans girl named Zaya, and Wade has made it clear that he is proud of the kid.

But some believe Union and her NBA superstar husband are using the boy like a prop to profit off the LGBT community.

“A lot of people have been giving opinions about this little kid wanting to transition and everything, and I feel like a lot of people are forgetting that this is a 12-year-old kid,” Cardi said on Instagram Live. “Before you say your opinions and everything, let’s not forget that this is a kid. Let’s not forget that this kid could be very, very sensitive.”

Cardi also responded to those saying Zaya is too young to transition. “If you were born thinking that you are a girl in a boy’s body, how old do you have to be to keep knowing that’s who you are? That’s who you are, that’s your identity,” she continued. “If that’s who you feel that you are, what is the age limit for you to know that that’s what you want to be?”

She went on to say that people should live their truth earlier rather than later.

“What’s the point of you being older and then transitioning and being like, ‘Damn, I should’ve been done this. I could’ve been found my happiness,'” said the “Money” rapper.

“Let people find their happiness, especially kids,” she said. “Let them feel comfortable doing what they want to be.”

Meanwhile, Wade recently opened up to Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America” about how he is supporting his son’s gender transition.

“She’s known it for nine years. She’s known since she was 3 years old,” Wade said, PEOPLE reports. “Along this way we’ve asked questions and we’ve learned. But she’s known.”

When asked how long he’s known, he explained… “I knew early on that I had to check myself. That’s what I knew. I knew early on that I had to ask myself questions.”

Wade claims his child helped educate him and Union on what it means to be transgender.

“She is our leader. I think when the conversation we had — the one thing about it, for parents, is have conversations with your kids. Zaya, early on, knew two things. She knew straight and she knew gay. But Zaya started doing more research.”
