Marshawn Lynch to Have ‘Substantial Role’ on HBO’s Sci-fi Western Series ‘Westworld’ [VIDEO]

*HBO has confirmed that NFL star Marshawn Lynch will have a substantial role in the upcoming season of “Westworld” after he was spotted in the new trailer.

Lynch is featured briefly in the official Season 3 trailer for the hit sci-fi Western thriller, as he’s seen walking down a dark corridor behind series star Aaron Paul. An HBO spokesperson told ESPN that the Lynch will have a “fun and pretty substantial role” this season, which premieres on March 15.

Lynch’s previous TV acting appearances include “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The League.”

Lynch shared a promo poster for the show on his Twitter page with the tagline “FREE WILL IS NOT FREE” (see above).

Meanwhile, Aaron Paul joins the cast this season as a mysterious character named Caleb, who gets entangled in Dolores’ schemes (played by Evan Rachel Wood).

“What can I tell you about the role of Caleb? Not much,” Paul told Men’s Journal. “He’s a construction worker and he has a robot named George, [who] sort of helps him out on his daily routine. He’s a point of view outside the park, he takes the audience outside of Westworld and what it’s like to live amongst the people who created Westworld, and sort of where we’re at as a society.”

“What attracted me to Westworld?”  he added. “I was just such a crazy fan of the show. And I love sci-fi. I think that’s my favorite genre. [This season] is also big and crazy and even more ambitious than last season. And it’s a lot of fun.”

HBO unleashed the official trailer this week (see above), but savvy fans uncovered a “hidden” trailer on a viral marketing website  – check it out below.

“Westworld” Season 3 premieres HBO on March 15th and consists of eight episodes. You can catch up on the first two seasons on-demand and with HBO Go and HBO Now.
