Lark Voorhies Admits She’s ‘Hurt’ After Being Excluded From ‘Saved by the Bell’ Reboot

Saved by the Bell

*Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle on the ’90s sitcom “Saved by the Bell,” will not appear in NBC’s upcoming reboot of the series, and she feels “a bit slighted and hurt” over the deliberate diss.

In a clip from Wednesday’s episode of “The Dr. Oz Show” (see below), Voorhies, who appears on the show to dish about mental health, reads from a journal entry she had written that details her feelings about the show reunion.

“It reads, this is a question to the reunion,” she begins. “I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members’ events. Yet of course, I also realized that having this puzzling disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision.”

Voorhies, who has previously revealed her own struggles with mental health, adds, “With that in mind, I am truly thankful for having had the chance to work on a show that has been so successful.”

In 2012, her mom told PEOPLE that Voorhies was battling bipolar disorder.

In the interview with Dr. Oz (set to air Wednesday), Voorhies reveals she struggles with “many competing voices” in her head.

“Then when you have that, it’s like why I have this one,” she says. “So you come up with another one for yourself because I got this from myself and it just goes on and on.”

When Dr. Oz asks if she would have like to be included in some of the reunions that other cast members have had, Voorhies responds, “Well, yes. Family isn’t kept complete without its lead.”

Voorhies is not the only original cast member who has not been asked to join the reboot. Tiffani Thiessen also has yet to be asked, but Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley are set to reprise their roles. Transgender actress Josie Totah has been cast in the lead role.

The reboot will air on NBC’s streaming service Peacock.
