TAYO Fatunla Cartoon/Essay: Coronavirus – Bad for Business

KUNGU PANDAmic - China's Coronavirus 2020

*As the death toll rises, I am hoping China will come through this Coronavirus a public threat, as it is bad for business. They may not say so but they know.

The celebration of the Chinese New Year this year was numb due to the global coverage of the epidemic. People of color are caught up in this as many are in China as teachers of languages such as the English language and unlikely anyone is running to their aid. The worrying scenario is that they too can be carriers of the virus to anywhere in the world many wanting to go back to their respective countries till this is over. In the West again, Chinese communities are facing racist abuse in the wake of coronavirus.

Made in China products sold internationally may suffer. Now its Super Football league is at risk. I thought to myself also about the symbol of China…. The Pandas…. How are they fairing right now in China? As I am hoping that all will be done to avoid them getting endangered.

China is a force to be reckoned with and has gained ground in Africa helping where the West hasn’t. Is it any wonder that China has now launched the coronavirus ‘close contact detector’ app to detect whether users have come in ‘close contact’ with the sick? China will win. This calendar year of the Rat and all that China, a potential global power, has and is going through with the virus, I smell a rat and hope I am wrong.

Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show –

I can never understand the game but a follower of it. What I do understand is the halftime Latino and a bit of Africa themed performances by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira who sent clear messages to Trump with the songs, Let’s get loud! Part of lyrics say…. Let’s get loud, let’s get loud Ain’t nobody gotta tell you What you gotta do…. and Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and Born in the USA. America is for everyone not for the few.
