*Just as Michael Bloomberg just surged to third place behind No. 1 Bernie Sanders and 2 Joe Biden in a new national Quinnipiac University poll, a 2015 audio clip has surfaced in which the former New York mayor and current 2020 presidential candidate reportedly defends the controversial “stop and frisk” police practice.
The comments were reportedly made by Bloomberg during a speech at nonprofit think tank The Aspen Institute, where he explained that the vast majority of murderers and murder victims “fit one M.O. — you could just take the description, Xerox it and pass it out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, 15 to 25 [years old].”
The recording, first shared on Monday by progressive podcast host Benjamin Dixon – who had been seeking information about Bloomberg on social media – was retweeted by Trump, who predictably stoked the fire by adding in all caps, “WOW, BLOOMBERG IS A TOTAL RACIST.” That tweet has since been deleted.
The audio surfaced after the three-term mayor disavowed the “stop and frisk” policy just before launching his presidential bid.

Bloomberg had video of speech blocked.

A second old Bloomberg clip resurfaced Monday in which he says that white people are the ones who are disproportionally stopped under Stop & Frisk.
