NJ Students Face Criminal Charges After Vicious Bearing of Coach Caught on Video

*Four students who took part in the vicious beating of the high school basketball coach of Malcolm X. Shabazz High School in Newark, New Jersey earlier this week are facing criminal charges.

The students were videoed attacking the junior varsity coach on Tuesday night. Footage of the fight was circulated on social media, and a school official then alerted police of the video.

“Our detectives are investigating this incident to identify and to appropriately charge those individuals involved,” Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. “Because high school students are typically juveniles, the names of the suspects will not be released. But those found to have participated in this senseless act of violence will face criminal charges.”

The altercation began after the coach attempted to stop the group from bullying another student, sources told WABC. The students involved in the attack have been suspended from school. The coach, whose name has not been released, declined to receive medical attention following the fight.
