THE REAL Hosts Discuss Staying Calm During Confrontation, Angela Simmons Talks Romeo & Bow Wow

*On Wednesday, Feb. 5, the hosts of “The Real” discuss confronting racists and why co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley feels it’s essential to speak calmly during a confrontation to avoid stereotypes and to be an example.

Some of the hottest women out there are over 50! Do you get upset if someone says you look good “for your age?”

The ladies also talk about the dangers of emotional affairs, and how they can lead to physical ones. Tamera explains the importance of being honest with your partner if you feel an emotional relationship is getting out of hand.

And Growing Up Hip Hop star Angela Simmons stops by to talk about her relationships with Romeo and Bow Bow, and … she reveals what she tells her son about his late father.

Later, actor Steven Weber visits with the hosts and shares what it’s like working with Fran Drescher on their new show Indebted and the healthy diets she insists on, on set.

Tamera on Staying Calm During A Confrontation In Order To Be Heard

Amanda Seales: Why do you feel like them saying – and Loni said this too – why do you feel like them saying it calmly is important?

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Well because I don’t… the thing is, we already have people putting stereotypes on us…

Adrienne Houghton: Yeah.

Tamera: …as, you know, black people, Mexicans, whatever, people of color. And I want… I want us to show the world that we’re more than that stereotype.

[The Real audience applauds]

Adrienne: But not only that, I think sometimes what’s being said doesn’t get heard because – because they use –

Jeannie Mai: Yes. Because of how you say it.

Amanda: You’re talking about the white people –

Tamera: They let your good – no, no, no, I’m talking about everybody.

Amanda: You’re talking about white people being calm.

Tamera: I’m talking about everybody.

Amanda: Because I feel like white people need to stop being so calm with each other when they act like this.

Tamera: I was not talking about just one particular race.

Adrienne: Betty wasn’t calm.

Tamera: I talked about –

Adrienne: She almost broke her neck.

Tamera: No, no, I’m talking about the entire room. And it’s what Jeannie said too. When you’re doing all of this [waving hands] sometimes people are just looking at that. You don’t want your good to be evil spoken of, that’s me. I want them to literally hear the words that are coming out of my mouth and be the example of how I want them to be to me.

[The Real audience applauds]

Adrienne: It’s the conversation of we need to listen to both sides because, obviously he was ridiculous, but I almost wanted him to keep talking so that he could hear how ridiculous he sounded.
