*Tommy Davidson has revealed that he nearly came to blows with Will Smith on the set of “Woo” for kissing his co-star Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Davidson wrote in his newly published memoir, titled “Living in Color,” about the time Will had a few stern words for him after he planted an unplanned kiss on Jada in the film — without first telling her he was going to do so.
“I didn’t know this: You have to rehearse a kiss,” he explained in his memoir, via PEOPLE. “You can’t just spring it on your costar … And I didn’t think it was all that big of a deal.”
Will, Jada’s fiancé at the time, had been on set and wasn’t happy with his improvisation. After filming the scene, he confronted Davidson to let him know that he “didn’t appreciate that,” the comedian wrote.

“Will went all gangsta on me, saying what I did was not cool,” he added. “There was a moment there when we might have come to blows. My reactive fight-or-flight instinct was triggered and I could have exploded.”
Jada was able to calm the situation and the trio went on to become close friends.
When the actor appeared on her Facebook Watch show “Red Table Talk,” he recalled how Jada supported him during major life event while filming “Woo.”
“[The] first time that we worked together — and I really got to know you on the set of Woo — I came out for a scene and you looked at me and you said, ‘Something’s wrong with you,’” Davidson recalled on the show. “I was like, ‘What you talking about? Let’s just get to work.'”
But Jada pressed him about it and Davidson eventually shared his concerns.
“I said, ‘My mother contacted my real mother and she was on the phone. I got a chance to talk to her but I don’t want to deal with that,’” he said. “She said, ‘Oh really? OK, hold — that’s a wrap!’”
The actress cut their filming short for the day so he could handle the situation.
Davidson said the moment “led to finally meeting my real mom,” Davidson told her.
