THE REAL: Would Loni Pass the Test to Become An Adoptive Parent? Plus: Wendi McLendon-Covey is Here!

*On Friday, Jan 31, “The Real” celebrates Fri-Yay and the hosts discuss whether potential parents should be forced to take a test before having children. And, if required to take a test to become an adoptive parent, would co-host Loni Love pass? By her answers to a couple of vital questions, we’re not so sure.

Co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley recalls how she studied almost every parenting book out there to prepare herself for her first child, but received a huge dose of reality when Baby Aden was born!

Later, actress Wendi McLendon-Covey stops by to talk about her sitcom The Goldbergs, how she stalks her TV children on social media and that she was accused by her Twitter followers of spoiling the outcome of the Jeopardy G.O.A.T. Tournament!

Then, in honor of The Real’s upcoming 1000th episode, the ladies take some time to reminisce about one of their most outrageous moments and view a Season One clip of Loni and co-host Jeannie Mai performing viewers’ Twitter dares.

Would Loni Pass the Test To Become An Adoptive Parent?

Amanda Seales: When you adopt a kid, do you have to take a test?

Loni Love: You have to pass tests.

Adrienne Houghton: You absolutely do. And there are certain- I actually have the list of the things they will tell you you have- minor, simple requirements to adopt a child in this country.

Amanda: Okay.

Jeannie Mai: Yeah.

Adrienne: You have to be a U.S. citizen. If unmarried, you must be at least twenty five years old.

Loni: Bingo. I’m that.

Adrienne: They need to do a medical phycological study on you.

Loni: Uh, oh.

Jeannie: See?

Loni: I may not pass that.

Jeannie: Wait. That’s big, Adrienne. To pause on. To think about that.

Amanda: That’s what I meant by the assessment.

Tamera: Medical, I mean.

Adrienne: Which I get but I don’t get.

Loni: Okay.

Adrienne: Criminal background check.

Loni: (Cringes) Ooh.

Adrienne: Now, I get that. Jeannie, I think you’d make an amazing mother to a child. I know that’s not something you want.

Jeannie: Yeah.

Adrienne: But, I think you’d make an amazing mother…

Loni: But, when we say “criminal”, do we mean convicted?

Jeannie: Is she referencing my criminal background?

Amanda: ( To Jeannie) Yo, what you been up to?

Adrienne: No, if you’ve gone to jail, you cannot adopt a baby.

Jeannie: Yes. Yes. But I do think it’s important to see…

Loni: What if it’s expunged?

Jeannie: What are the grounds? What are the grounds that somebody got arrested on? It is important to know that.

Tamera: But can we talk about…

Amanda: Is it a violent crime? Or is it a…

Tamera: Can we talk about the result of this?

Jeannie: Are you safe in society?

Tamera: Say you failed the test.

Loni: Uh huh.

Tamera: Say you failed the test…

Loni: Okay. ‘Cause it’s lookin’ like I failed.
