The 50th Year – Award winning OUR ROOTS Celebrates Black History Month in the US

Our Roots - Josephine Baker - L'overture - Lion of Judah

*The celebration of Black History Month all across the US is in its 50th year and OUR ROOTS the illustrated feature is in its 31st year.

I have always found, that the best form of encouragement when it comes to drawing cartoons, is to have them published. I research, write and draw OUR ROOTS. EURweb has given me the opportunity to produce more of this educational illustrated feature on its web site for some years now.

How have I been able to sustain OUR ROOTS? It is the existence of the Black race, the rich history, culture and then individual and collective achievements that have allowed me to feature sung and unsung heroes and heroines, people, places, black events and milestones.

OUR ROOTS honors the too-often neglected accomplishments of black people in the diaspora. The history of Black people globally cannot be wished away and their contribution to history cannot be brushed aside. For this reason, as the US celebrates Black History Month which began at Kent State University in 1970 throughout February, so will OUR ROOTS feature again new materials on EURWEB.
