*Celebs gathered at the Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Roc Nation and opened up about black excellence and shared the best advice they’d give a person of color who is on their road to success.

The Roc Nation brunch is one of the biggest parties of the year. Right before the Grammys, the Carters throw a celebratory brunch that highlights the accomplishments and success of Black artists. The party’s attendees included Megan Thee Stallion, Kevin Hart, Meek Mill, Big Sean and more.

While there, celebs stopped by the red carpet to express why it’s important to celebrate black success.

“You know this event is so exclusive and you know, just to be here and to be with all these amazing artists and bosses in the industry. It’s just a dope wine down, you know for us to celebrate excellence and each other. And you (don’t) have to feel like we have to be validated by anybody but ourselves,” said Roc Nation artist Rapsody.

Monami CEO, Mona Scott-Young says it’s important to celebrate one another’s success together.

“I mean I always think it’s very important that we encourage each other, that we celebrate each other and that we give each other props, right? It’s really hard to make it in this world, especially as a person of color and when we find ourselves at that point we should be able to look around and congratulate and celebrate the others that are there with us,” said Scott-Young

And when you are on your way to success, Roc Nation attendees say stay true to yourself.

“Honestly, don’t really listen to anybody. You can hear people, you can get their-…take note. Um, but I think it’s incredibly important to make your own decisions, to make your own path. When it comes down to it you have to be your own person because people are going to try to water you down and fit you into their box no a shelf, “ said singer Tinashe.

“Just learn the business that you are about to get into as much as you possibly can. Perfect your craft as much as you can, and save your money. Balance your money. Be smart with your money,” said rap legend Jadakiss. “Stay focused, stay positive. Keep working. Keep moving hard. You know what I’m saying, if they don’t believe in your talent or they don’t believe in your craft right now you gotta force it on em.’ Make them believe in it and just keep working. You gotta remind yourself who you is, you gotta look in the mirror and be like, ‘I’m that person. This me. Let’s do this!’ You get what I’m saying?”

The Roc Nation Brunch took place in Beverly Hills on Saturday, Jan. 25.
