The folks at Planters found an effective way to get some publicity.

Kill off the mascot.

Mr. Peanut is gone, y’all, at least for now. And for some reason, Wesley Snipes is involved. In this Super Bowl spot, the famous legume is driving Snipes and Matt Walsh when tragedy strikes, Mr. Peanut swerves and the three find themselves about to fall off a cliff. Their only hope is the branch they’re all clinging to, but it’s about to give way under the weight. Like Leo DiCaprio in “Titanic,” Mr. P let makes the ultimate sacrifice. He was 104.
