THE REAL: Loni Urges: Attack the Issue, Not the Person and ‘Supernanny’ Jo Frost Visits!

*On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the hosts ofThe Real” discuss Ralph Lauren’s apology for selling a pair of pants with a trademarked symbol for black fraternity Phi Beta Sigma on them.

Co-host Loni Love, a member of Delta Sigma Theta, explains the history behind black fraternities and sororities, and why people take so seriously the idea of wearing the letters after going through the process of joining.

The ladies revisit the comments celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels made regarding Lizzo and her attempt at clarification. Co-host Loni Love feels that right now in conversations, we are attacking people instead of attacking the issues.

And Jo Frost stops by to discuss the new season of Supernanny. The famous British nanny gives her opinion on Meghan and Harry’s plans and what she thinks about parents spanking their kids.

Loni: Attack The Issue, Not The Person

Loni Love: We are having a problem in this country where we attack people, that – instead of attacking the issue. If I say something that you don’t like, don’t attack me, attack what I’m talking about, then I can respect you.

[The Real audience applauds]

Loni: I can’t respect you if you’re attacking me personally for how I look or how you want to shame me –

Adrienne Houghton: It’s a weak way to argue!

Loni: So that’s what’s happening with Lizzo. You’re attacking her personally ‘cause she is having the time of her life. Attack the issue that maybe, you know what? “I feel like we’re glamourizing,” but take her out of it. And you can – and then we can say ok, we can have a conversation. We need to learn how to have a conversation in this country, instead of attacking people personally.

Jeannie Mai: And canceling them.

Loni: And canceling people. Attack the issue, not the person.
