Jharrel Jerome, Ruth E. Carter & More Talk Winning at The Critic’s Choice Awards – WATCH

*Sunday night in Santa Monica, stars from the film and TV world came together to celebrate the 25th Annual Critics Choice Awards. The evening was hosted by Taye Diggs and included a lifetime achievement award for Eddie Murphy and Kristen Bell (“The Good Place”) received the #SeeHer Award. It aired live on The CW network.

The night was full of A-list stars in attendance including, Billy Porter (Pose,) Jennifer Lopez (Hustlers,) Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us,) Joaquin Phoenix (Joker), Niecey Nash (TNT’s Claws) and more.

EURweb was on the blue carpet and spoke with some of the night’s nominees and winners.

Best Costume Design winner Ruth E. Carter (Dolemite is My Name) shared her reaction to being nominated a year after winning the Academy Award for “Black Panther.”

…It had been 25 years, and then to get one (a nomination) a year after the last one, it was nutty. I’m trying to figure this out myself. I work hard, I’ve been in this industry a long time. I still give it my all, I still lead with my heart, and maybe I figured it out.”

William Jackson Harper – nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series – discussed what it meant to be nominated.

Having a job that people watch and appreciate, and are affected by, that’s the goal. Having all of this happen in the way that it has, it’s like a dream come true.

Winner Jharrel Jerome talked about some of the new projects he has coming up for 2020.

I’m going to be in a film called “Concrete Cowboy” with Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things) and I’m physically training for a role right now, might pack on some muscles or something like that.

Other winners of the night include, Netflix “When They See Us” as Best limited series, “Dolemite is My Name” for Best Comedy Film, Joaquin Phoenix for Best Actor in “Joker” and  “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” was named Best Picture.
