*Days after R. Kelly’s girlfriend Azriel Clary got into a fight with his other girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage, on Instagram Live, Clary’s mother has confirmed that her daughter has finally come home.
“Everybody wants to bash and throw her under the bus, and they just really don’t understand,” Azriel’s mother Alice tells PEOPLE.
Clary has reunited with her family following a brawl with Savage that took place inside R. Kelly’s Trump Tower condo in Chicago on Wednesday.
“The battle is won because she’s still here, she’s still alive, she’s still breathing and though she lost a few years of her life, she’s still here to tell her story,” Alice tells PEOPLE. “Because I chose not to keep her secluded in her life, she’s here now and we’re able to say the victory is won because she finally came to her senses and she’s back home with her family.”
The incident went Sagave down on Kelly’s 53rd birthday, and was caught on Clary’s IG Live broadcast. The footage shows Savage accusing Clary of disrespecting Kelly’s house. Clary insists she’s simply protecting herself, and it’s not long before the two come to blows. However, as noted by Complex, the camera falls to the floor as the scuffle ensues but you can hear others attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Clary can also heard accusing Savage of sleeping with her when she was still a minor.

The context of the argument is later explained in a follow-up video that Clary shared of her reporting the incident to police (see below). In it, she claims the incident began when Savage gave one of R. Kelly’s handlers, a woman named “Kimberly,” a key to their home to collect some of the singer’s personal items. Clary explains to authorities that she was uncomfortable with the woman being inside the Condo without Savage, and that’s when all hell broke loose.
“[Savage] started saying I’m so wrong, and this and that. And I told her, ‘Joycelyn, you’re going to jail. You slept with a minor, and that minor is me. You did it multiple times over and over again,'” Clary tells police in the clip below. “She was like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe you’re doing this, I can’t believe you’re saying this,’ all this stuff. And then she started attacking me.”
Clary makes clear that she wants to press charges after Savage hit her face.
Earlier this week, she hinted on Twitter that she may spill the tea about R. Kelly and his alleged sex crimes.
“People don’t understand she’s hurt,” Alice tells PEOPLE. “This man lied to her for years, and she was doing what she thought a good girlfriend would do because that’s what she thought she was.”
Alice says her daughter is a victim of Kelly’s alleged abuse.
“Everybody has something to say, she was 17 when she left. Now she’s 22, but guess what? She’s had problems for the last few years,” Angela said. “She may have done things as far as being grown physically as a young woman, but mentally no. She still has the mental capacity of a 17-year-old because he kept her stagnated for years and didn’t let her be with her family.”
“She didn’t do the same things that other young girls do so she didn’t learn any lessons,” she continued. “All she learned was s— that was with him. This whole ordeal is twisted and unfortunately people and the media and everybody, they don’t look at it that way.”
R. Kelly is currently being held without bail in federal prison in Chicago after being arrested on sex crime charges both Illinois and New York. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
“Everybody wants to bash and throw her under the bus and this and that, and they just really don’t understand that this still is a young lady that has a life to live and this s— is crazy,” Angela tells PEOPLE. “This is my child and I’ve been able to not give a f— about what people think about me. Saying things like, ‘Oh the mom is to blame.’ You know what? Think how you want because you ain’t walking in my damn shoes, and that’s how it is.”
Jerome Trammel probably said it best on Twitter, “Azriel Clary & Joycelyn Savage are the last two, now that they’ve turned on one another.. R. Kelly is REALLY done.“
