TV/Film Star (and New Author) John Amos Lands as Contender for the NAACP Image Awards

*Television and film star John Amos has landed as a 2020 Contender for the NAACP Image Awards in the category of Best Children’s Literature. His campaign as an NAACP contender in literature follows the successful release of his illustrated children’s book, “A World Without Color.”

Amos is a legendary television and film actor whose starring roles are part of some of the top feature films and television shows in the history of the entertainment industry.

His natural acting talent ranges from both drama and comedy in award-winning television shows such as “Good Times,” “The West Wing,” and the acclaimed mini-series “Roots.” His film credits include “Coming to America” and “Die Hard II” to name a few.

Amos’ recent acting credits include his role in the new “Coming to America” and “Good Times Live” produced at Sony Pictures. In addition to his successful acting career, Amos is now launching his new role as an officially published author with the publication of the new children’s book, “A World Without Color.”

“A World Without Color” follows a young boy on a journey where he discovers empathy and kindness. The characters are inspired by the iconic career of Amos and the roles that have impacted his life.

The children’s book includes classroom activities, discussions, questions, an array of vocabulary related to emotions, colors, greetings and even salutations. The book is written by John Amos and co-authored by Lenny K and Lisa Figaro. Illustrations are by Lenny K. The book is edited by Paul Baldesarre.

Presented annually, the NAACP Image Awards is recognized as the nation’s preeminent multicultural awards show from an African American point of view. The event celebrates the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts, as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.
