*There’s no doubt quite a few of you out there in the boxing stratosphere that may not have ever heard of this great fighter (Saoul Mamby), but allow me first to give praise to Allah (God) for blessing us all who were around in his era to witness the boxing skills and ability that this guy had.
He fought in 85 professional fights garnering 45 wins 34 losses, and 6 draws with 18 coming by way of knockout. What made this guy so unique was the fact that he could take a punch and keep on coming.
The WBC super lightweight champion by stopping Kim Sang-Hung in the fourteenth round in South Korea in February 1980.
He then went on to fight Esteban De Jesus in July of that year and stopped him in the thirteenth round thus capturing the WBC lightweight title and holding two titles in two different weight divisions in the same year.

He was indeed a great fighter who really didn’t know how to stop and kept on fighting until the ripe old age of 60 and that’s something that a lot of fighters today wish they could do.
He was stopped only once and that was by a kid several years younger by the name of Derrell Coley in 1993.
Saoul Passed away on December 19, 2019, at the Veterans Hospital in New Jersey and the sport will of boxing will surely miss him. May Allah (God) bless him with peace in paradise.
