*Adrian Holmes, who stars in Netflix’s new series “V Wars,” has kept company with some of the best in his illustrious career in television.
Early on it was with the “There can be only one” immortal “Highlander.” He was Captain Pike on the long-running “Arrow.” Also, Holmes played several roles on “Supernatural,” which has been airing for 15-years. One of those roles was grande dame Missouri’s (Loretta Devine) son. In 2017, Holmes took home Canada’s top honor in film and television for “19-2.”In an exclusive interview with EUR, Holmes was excited about revealing the true meaning of “V Wars.”
Adrian, how is ‘V Wars’ different from any other vampire show?
It’s not a supernatural show. It’s really grounded in reality. ‘V Wars’ is basically about an infectious disease. It could be cancer, Ebola, or any of the diseases we face today. Basically because of global warming, a virus that has been frozen for thousands of years has now been released, due to the melting polar ice caps. It also tackles social issues through a fictional narrative.
And what is your role in all of this?
My character is an aviation specialist and a helicopter pilot. He’s Dr. Luther Swann’s (Ian Somerhalder) best friend, who is trying to find a cure or vaccine for the disease that’s spreading like wildfire, turning certain people into vampire-like creatures.

Did Ian (‘Vampire Diaries’) give you any advice?
If I had any questions, he was available because he’s definitely a vampire alumnus. He just really made sure that we were all grounded because he didn’t want us to be a typical kind of vampire type show. He wanted to provoke thought. He wanted people to go hmm, what if something like this happened because of our lack of being responsible for environmental issues and global warming. Besides being the lead, Ian is a producer and directs an episode. I really enjoyed working with him.
