Dwyane Wade Claps Back at Critics of His Son Wearing a Crop Top and Fake Nails

Dwyane Wade, Zion, Gabrielle Union

*Dwyane Wade took to Twitter on Saturday to defend his 12-year-old son Zion against critics who slammed the NBA star for allowing the kid to dress like a prostitot.

The drama started Thanksgiving Day, when Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union, shared a photo on her Instagram page showing the couple with their 1-year-old daughter, Kaavia, and Zion wearing a crop top and fake nails. Folks immediately criticized Wade for being a bad father for allowing his son to dress like a girl, Too Fab reports.

“Smh wtf this lil boy got nails on for?” one person wrote. “I’ve lost all respect for D Wade …”

“Why does his son have his nails done and dressed like a girl?” another commented.

Wade responded to the negative comments, noting that “Stupidity is a part of this world we live in,” he said.

“As a parent my only goal is that my kids feel that i see them, love them and support them,” he wrote. “I’ve seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is apart of this world we live in—so i get it. But here’s the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!

The former NBA player defended his gay son back in October, when he posted a photo of Union, Kaavia, and Zion along with caption “My girls.” The posted triggered a slew of homophobic comments.

Union defended the post on Twitter, writing, “Looks like love to me. I truly hope that everyone gets the love, support and hugs they deserve. Also Kaav ain’t with the dumb shit. Peace & Blessings good people.”

Meanwhile, Wade was quick to defend his wife recently in a series of tweets amid her firing from “America’s Got Talent” for complaining about the toxic culture on set.

“When I got the news that my wife was being fired—my first question was obviously why!?” Wade wrote in one tweet. “I am still waiting on a good answer to that question.”

In a follow-up tweet Wade added, “As proud as I am of her being selected as a judge on “AGT,” I am even more proud of her standing up for what she stands for.”
