Ilhan Omar

*The campaign account of for Danielle Stella, a Republican vying for Rep. Ilhan Omar’s seat, was banned from Twitter after suggesting the Muslim congresswoman should be hanged.

Stella’s campaign account, @2020MNCongress, posted unsubstantiated claims that Omar illegally shared sensitive government information with Qatar and Iran, The Washington Times reported.

“If it is proven @IlhanMN passed sensitive info to Iran, she should be tried for #treason and hanged,” Stella’s account tweeted on Tuesday.

The Washington Times said the account “subsequently tweeted the link to an article that aggregated her remark, accompanied by a crude depiction of a stick figure hanging from gallows.”

Omar called the unfounded claims “outlandishly absurd.”

The allegations stem from a Canadian businessman, who was born in Kuwait, and believed to be an agent of the Saudi government, Business Insider reports. He accused Omar and White House adviser Jared Kushner of being Qatari assets and Stella ran with it.

A spokesperson for Omar previously told the Jerusalem Post of the claim: “Since the day she was elected, Saudi Arabian trolls and mouthpieces have targeted Omar with misinformation and conspiracy theories.”

“People often ask me why I don’t fight back against them often,” Omar tweeted Tuesday. “It’s a valid question, one my team, family and I struggle with. There is just too much, they are too ridiculous and it feel degrading to respond to such stupidity.”

Meanwhile, Stella’s campaign account cannot be viewed as the page reads “account suspended” and “Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules.”

In a statement, Twitter told the Guardian: “The account was permanently suspended for repeated violations of the Twitter Rules.”

Stella said in a statement: “My suspension for advocating for the enforcement of federal code proves Twitter will always side with and fight to protect terrorists, traitors, pedophiles and rapists.”

The New York Post revealed that Stella was recently charged with a felony, after stealing over $2,300 worth of items from a Target store and $40 worth of items from a grocery store.
