Exclusive Stuff from the American Music Awards Red Carpet – WATCH

*The 47th annual American Music Awards were held on Sunday (11-24-19) and the stars hit the red carpet in their Sunday best.  Celebs in attendance that night were Tyra Banks, Billy Porter, Chadwick Boseman, Megan The Stallion, Ella Mai and many more. Speaking of Ella Mai, we spoke with her on the red carpet about her reaction to her four AMA nominations.

“Last year was my first AMA’s and I had two nominations, so to come back this year and (to) have double is incredible,” she says.  Unfortunately, she didn’t take home any AMA’s that night. She got beat out by Khalid who won Favorite Soul/R&B album and song, Billie Ellish for New Artist and Beyoncé who won Favorite Female Artist.

Another upset was Lil Nas X. With six nominations he only took home one AMA for Favorite Rap Song. Even though Billboard tried to take Lil Nas X off of the country charts earlier this year, it was good to see him get the recognition he deserved for his hit song “Old Town Road.”

This year the awards were hosted by Ciara who also opened the show performing her new single Melanin with the help of Power star Lala. Ciara shared how hosting the AMA’s was actually a dream of hers as a little girl.

“I grew up watching this show and looking at the many amazing hosts who have graced this stage, and thinking like that’ll be cool to do one day.  And that dream has come true.”

Speaking of dreams coming true. Lizzo was living her dream  Sunday night. She was not only nominated but also performed her new single Jerome. Lizzo took to Twitter to reflect on her grind up to this point in her career and ended the tweet with “Glad I never gave up.”
