THE REAL Welcomes Max Greenfield, Sheaun McKinney & Marcel Spears from ‘The Neighborhood’ – WATCH

*On Monday, Nov. 25, The Real welcomes back guest co-host Tisha Campbell!

The hosts discuss R. Kelly’s former girlfriend Joycelyn Savage breaking her silence and speaking out about the abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of the R&B singer, now jailed since his arrest in July.

Co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley wonders if co-host Loni Love has had to evolve her comedy over the years and Loni explains how different environments lend to different types of comedy. Co-host Jeannie Mai opines that humor needs to fit in with our ever-evolving social responsibility and Loni assures that everything she says is out of love.

Then Max Greenfield, Sheaun McKinney and Marcel Spears drop by to talk about The Neighborhood and the cultural differences explored by the show. They also play a game of “Who From The Neighborhood?” and viewers will find out who wouldn’t hesitate to call the cops on loud neighbors – or their own loud family!

How Does Humor Fit In With Our Ever-Evolving Social Responsibility? The Ladies Discuss

Tamera Mowry- Housley: I do have a question for you, Loni.

Loni Love: Yes.

Tamera: Being on a talk show now, and in the past, I do feel like there’s a different climate right now. Do you feel that you can’t get away with certain things now than you did back then, and how do you navigate that as a whole?

Loni: The thing is, it’s a bigger audience. So when you’re dealing with a bigger audience, you’re gonna have some hits and some misses. You know what I mean? The thing about political correctness is I think a lot of people nowadays are becoming way too sensitive about stuff.

Tamera: That, that, that was… my point.

[The Real audience applauds]

Loni: Way too sensitive. And we’re losing our sense of humor, you know, in the country.

Tamera: Isn’t that the point of comedy? The point of comedy, you know, the schtick is, you make fun of people, things and situations and it kind of gets us out of our seriousness…

Tisha Campbell: It makes it lighter.

Tamera: And just, you know…

Loni: Exactly.

Tamera: Lighten things up, but now I feel like you can’t even do that. People get upset with every little thing that you say and as a performer, that’s gotta be hindering, sometimes, you know? It gets in the way of the flow.

Tisha: Well, I’m sure that happens to you guys on the show!

Tamera: Oh yeah.

Tisha: How do you deal with that? Because they could take one word – and twist it!

Jeannie Mai: Yes. This is true.

Jeannie: I also think that certain stereotypes – like, you gotta be careful because you can be creative – like, yes! Some Asians can’t drive. I am one of them. Yes.

Tamera: See, but you can make that joke about yourself.

Jeannie: Yes.

Tisha: I’m black and I can’t drive.

Jeannie: See? But then you gotta have a way to normalize – to equalize it, so it’s not just a target.

Loni: But you can tell – you know, the thing is, just like we make black and white jokes. Everybody on this table makes black and white jokes. It just depends on how you do it.

Tamera: I have felt it.

Loni: Yeah, it just depends on how you do it, and the thing is for me personally, I never try to say something that’s hateful. Any joke that I’ve said on this show, has been said out of love, not out of hate.

[The Real audience applauds]

Loni: People just have to loosen up. And the thing is, we all adjust, we all evolve – comedy is evolving, that’s what you see with the LGBT jokes. It’s like now – you know, ten years ago, it was cool. Now it’s not cool.

Jeannie: It’s not.

Loni: So we will keep evolving as a country. But we have to lighten up.

Jeannie: And that’s our own responsibility.
